Audi Skysphere

The Skysphere is Audi’s next-generation all-electric concept car.

Audi released a next-generation concept car. The Audi skysphere is an electric-powered, two-door convertible with many new features. Audi shows its vision for the future, with both comfort and usability.

The Skysphere was based on the Horch 853. The Horch was a roadster in the 1930s, benchmarked for driving dynamics and comfort. The Skysphere is a modern design based on the same concepts.

The Skysphere is built to show some of the technologies of the future. The Skysphere holds Audi’s reputation for creating world-class sports cars but is also able to convert itself into a luxury autonomous lounge. In this lounge, not only is the steering wheel hidden, the gas and break pedals retract, the dashboard moves back, and the car takes control of navigation, but the whole car expands in a matter of seconds, giving the driver and the passenger more space. The car combines a muscular body with elegant, sleek lines. Furthermore, many of the proportions are groundbreaking in terms of wheel size, wheel distance, etc.

The whole car was built in the Audi Malibu design studio. The study is also next generation because the studio is based on digital design, and not a single aspect is done on paper. With the use of virtual reality goggles, engineers are able to immerse themselves inside their designs. In combination with Audi’s German office, they brought the skysphere from concept to reality.

Starting a the front of the design the Skysphere incorporates arrays of lights in the front and back to create the illusion that the car is alive

The skysphere is a convertible and also has motor rear doors that open backward, creating ease when going in the car.

All in all, the skysphere is a next-generation car that greatly expands the potential of cars.
