Lucid opens its second factory in Saudi Arabia

Lucid makes history by opening the first-ever car factory in Saudi Arabia.

Lucid just opened AMP-2 (Advanced Manufacturing Plant), its first international factory. The factory is located in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The factory received significant support from Saudi royalty, especially including the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia (MISA), the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF), and the Economic City at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). Lucid will play a big role in Saudi’s goal to diversify its economy and will support the country’s goal of making 30% of all new car sales electric by 2030.

Currently, the factory is poised to make 5,000 Lucid vehicles per month, but in the future, they’re hoping to increase this to 155,000 vehicles per month.

"We are delighted to make history today in Saudi Arabia by opening the country's first car manufacturing facility, which will produce our award-winning electric vehicles and support the country's vision for a more sustainable and diversified economy. As Saudi charges toward its Vision 2030, our facility will pave the way for the country's electric automotive industry and the expansion of the supply chain, and with the support of the Saudi Government, we are proud to drive local talent development in the technology industry. We look forward to delivering Saudi-assembled cars to customers in Saudi Arabia and beyond."

- Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid
