The Rimac Nevera becomes the fastest production EV

The Rimac Nevera hits a top speed of 256 mph to become the world’s fastest production EV.

The highly anticipated Rimac Nevera has once again shown why it’s the best EV in the market. On October 28, at the Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany, Rimac decided to try to achieve the car’s simulated top speed. Rimac’s chief test and development driver, Miro Zrnčević, took the car to the track, crossing the 256 mph (412 kph). This comes just months after the Tesla Model S reached 216 mph, and the Nevera’s speed may not be crossed for a while.

Though the top speed is 256, Rimac is locking the car at 219 mph for cars. However, Rimac says that at special events, with the help of the Rimac team, customers can unlock the full 256 mph potential.

The Nevera was independently verified to have an 8.582 second quarter mile time in 2021, which also makes it the fastest-accelerating production car.

Here’s a video of the run:

The top speed was measured using Racelogic’s V-Box with a high-precision GPS-based measurement. According to the company, the 412 kph target was set when the company first unveiled the C_Two concept at Geneva in 2018.
